How to choose your LPG Tank

Tank capacities for LPG tanks are always quoted as gross capacities. LPG tanks are filled to 80% only. So, for example, if you have an 80 litre tank, it will hold 64 litres of fuel.

We supply a wide range of GZWM and Irene LPG tanks. Our on-line store lists our current stock items and gives dimensions, capacities and prices.

If you are converting a 4-wheel-drive vehicle or a Grand Voyager, and are looking for an alternative to having a gas tank inside the vehicle, you may like to consider one of our Replacement Petrol Tanks.

Cylinder (Single-hole)

The cylinder tank is the simplest and least expensive shape of LPG tank. The single-hole version uses a single multivalve, that combines all of the required valve functions and safety features into a low-cost solution.

Cylinder (Four-hole)

The cylinder tank is the simplest and least expensive shape of LPG tank. The 4-hole version has provision for 4 separate valves - inlet, outlet, level and pressure relief. The gas-tight boxes are usually die-cast metal and are stronger than the single-hole plastic boxes. The valves are larger and, on big tanks, the filling time will be quicker. Although these tanks are not much more expensive than the single-hole versions, the valves and box are about twice the price.

The toroidal tank has been designed to fit in the spare wheel well of a car. It is secured through the centre and the pipes and cables are also fed through the centre. A steel gas-tight cover is provided with the tank. This single-hole tank uses a single multivalve, that combines all of the required valve functions and safety features into a low-cost solution. This tank is not suitable for cars that have a plastic spare wheel well.

The full-toroidal tank has been designed to fit in place of the spare wheel where it is mounted under the vehicle. It may also be used in a spare wheel well, in which case the valve is located either in a corner of the well (with a soft gas-tight box) or is passed through a hole that is cut in the side of the well. The tank is secured using lugs at the top or bottom. This single-hole tank uses a single multivalve, that combines all of the required valve functions and safety features into a low-cost solution.

Ellipsoidal

The ellipsoidal tank is similar, in many ways, to the full-toroidal 4-hole tank, although the top and bottom are much more rounded. The tank is secured using the legs at the top.

This 4-hole tank has provision for 4 separate valves - inlet, outlet, level and pressure relief. The valves are larger and, on big tanks, the filling time will be quicker. This tank is ideal for fitting in place of the original petrol tank on classic Range Rovers, Discovery 1 and 2 models and the Defender 110.
